Ruby on Rails in Hong Kong

19 October, 2007

At Stepcase, we use Ruby on Rails to develop the prototype of our software. It is probably the choice of web framework because of its stubbornness on elegant conventions and development patterns. Yesterday, I met Rex Chung who runs a web development consulting firm. I wanted to meet him because he is the only Hong Kong firm I know which delivers web apps in Ruby on Rails (Let me know if there are others). We discussed many topics, and many of them wrap around Ruby on Rails and web development in Hong Kong. We use Rails because we love it, but we both agree there are only a few of us locally. We talked about how we could fire up some initiatives on building a community here. Next week, we are planning to host a small meetup for Ruby on Rails folks to gather and discuss about Rails’ testing features and test driven development.

Hello! Good to know there are some other Ruby and Rails people in Hong Kong.

JadeTower East does some Rails consulting and we’re looking at doing some Rails training in December.
