First Hong Kong Ruby on Rails Meetup

25 October, 2007

After I caught up with Rex, we thought having a first meetup is the best way to kick start the Ruby/RoR community in HK. So beginning of this week, Rex sent out an invitation note to the Google Group and we had our first Hong Kong Ruby on Rails meeting tonight. Five Ruby on Rails lovers attended the dinner, including: Rex Chung (RoRCraft), Chris Chan (RoRCraft), Myself (Stepcase), Johnny Kwan (Stepcase), and Dean Missikowski.

We chatted on varies topics like our background, our work and how does it relate to Ruby & RoR, Rails’ scalability issues and its testing practices. It’s great to see there are people who share similar passion on Rails and I am sure we can find more people who are interested in this web framework! I can’t wait for the next one!

Thanks Rex for organizing this. I should add this info to HK Ruby and Rails User Group on Facebook as well - it is not synced with Google Group yet!

News: Stepcase is looking for a full-time Ruby on Rails Software Engineer. Visit our job page for more information!

Awesome group formed around RoR you have!

Our company is also into RoR. It isn’t much at the moment but I hope you guys could give it a peek. Will definitely appreciate reading your thoughts!

    Keep on writing.

    Best.
